HomeMy WebLinkAbout060611_ca01 Department of Public Works o Consent Agenda Page 1 of 1 Jefferson County Board of Commissioners Agenda Request From: Board of Commissioners Philip Morley, County Administrator Frank Gifford, Public Works Director r6 To: Agenda Date: June 6, 2011 Subject: Schedule a public hearing date for the proposed 2012-2017 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program (6-yr TIP) Statement of Issue: Schedule a public hearing for 11 :00 AM on Monday, June 20, 2011 for the purpose of receiving public testimony concerning adoption of the 2012-2017 Jefferson County Six- Year Transportation Improvement Program (6-yr TIP). RCW 36.81.121 obligates the legislative authority of each county in the state to adopt on an annual basis a 6-yr TIP, holding a public hearing prior to adoption. The purpose of the law is to "assure that each county shall perpetually have available advanced plans looking to the future for not less than six years as a guide in carrying out a coordinated transportation program" (RCW 36.81.121 (1)). Public Works prepares a proposed 6-yr TIP and adopting Resolution for Board consideration. These will be submitted with a Regular Agenda Request prior to the public hearing. Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pros & Cons: The Board is requested to set the hearing date and sign the legal notice to enable it to be published prior to the hearing. Fiscal Impact/Cost-Benefit Analysis: N/A Recommendation: Authorize the Chair to sign the hearing notice and return it to Public Works for further processing.
