If the Roadless Rule is repealed, 45 million acres of national forests will be opened to road building, logging, mining, and other extractive industries. Time is running out. Submit your comment now and tell the administration: Hands off our wildest forests. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=ABB7InYiOjEsImQiOjUwMTR9AAcAAAAABy93d_mE4zyiPtSttrKF4I fKQPtu3LV8hWLij6kUlw2rC_wU9txe5GY74PbPjQt-VQTT3x8jLTdJ1K2Z8PYxDSNvlNCBc1Hv8pePcXWCpJA0> Add your comment now <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=ABB7InYiOjEsImQiOjUwMTR9AAcAAAAABy93d_mFW61z5-7wYB74WejbYxeFv0wq0YUeM4jzOxPWoKQRkg1aHTWBBveNR6PA9RAd5EGJVomRSSzpP09pRPI4WsS17kBcNwU8tB0g2q 60> Dear John, You've stood up for public lands before, and right now we need you to do it again. The public comment period on the Roadless Rule repeal closes next Tuesday, October 6. Imagine your favorite national forest. Wild, expansive, quiet. The rule isn't marked on trail signs or ranger district maps, but chances are your favorite forest is roadless. For 25 years, the Roadless Rule has protected 45 million acres of our most treasured national forests from logging, drilling, mining, development, and road building. The Trump administration is now trying to tear it down. When the Forest Service created the rule in 2001, it received 1.6 million comments, more than 95 percent of them in support of strong protections. The agency listened and made the policy even stronger. We have to show this administration that the public still feels the same way. Submit your comment before October 6 and tell the US Forest Service: DO NOT REPEAL THE ROADLESS RULE. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=ABB7InYiOjEsImQiOjUwMTR9AAcAAAAABy93d_mGDvNElECGf_Qaaz2Sz t5yKy4qTQ3ua8UPTQRVjimQkXZGiej6pm6E9q5boVbUqq3R2zPq7tLOKfJto_4HJxj0p7oZK2qHQlEHxSlu> Take two extra minutes to personalize your comment. Explain why forest protections matter to you; personalized comments are weighted much more heavily. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=ABB7InYiOjEsImQiOjUwMTR9AAcAAAAABy93d_mH91K2VoO2qUxnAQo9n2dxiKy3NlL3ELy8-eQ7X0B7FbjzV-cPguuDKKSgNk68hS_IlmO2Pl5kXDAtMaU9KsQ-20Y6xqIJc-enJktf> Black Hills National Forest. We need science-based, ecologically responsible solutions to the wildfire crisis, but 85 percent of wildfires are started by humans, and more roads mean more ignitions. Repeal would likely make things worse. * Taxpayers would foot the bill. Roadless areas were never logged because they're remote, rugged, and often have little merchantable timber. Opening them could mean taxpayer-funded projects that destroy the forests' highest values while selling timber at a loss. * The case for the rule is stronger than ever. Protecting habitat matters more than ever with climate change and development, the Forest Service's road maintenance backlog keeps growing, and protecting public lands is still overwhelmingly popular. The clock is ticking! Add your voice before the comment window closes: more than 250K other people have taken action -- will you join, too? Tell this administration: Our roadless public lands are too valuable to lose, and the American public won't stand for it. TIME IS RUNNING OUT: comment before October 6. <http://click.emails.sierraclu b.org/?qs=ABB7InYiOjEsImQiOjUwMTR9AAcAAAAABy93d_mJVeVJb_ObTULU9Bq2NYQusIZpTIjlZw_lDfNkoOS1OxiLxlfh2J5z5NJbOqjchbMnUf9JNEf9-hh8ZEzPiELc1u2oMtze6-pWB5ua> Thank you for everything you do to protect forests and public lands.
