If you come across a downed tree or large branch blocking the trail, please send an email and, if possible, include photographs to us at trailalerts@olympicdisocverytrail.org. Or, you can email us with the button below. TRAIL ALERT <mailto:trailalerts@olympicdiscoverytrail.org?subject=Trail%20Alert&body=Here's%20my%20trail%20alert%3A> If you see an issue that is an emergency, please call 911 as soon as you are able. Issues that are not an emergency can be reported to the Clallam County's non-emergency number (360) 417-2459 or Jefferson County's non-emergency number (360) 344-9779. How do you know which county you're in along the trail? The Diamond Point Trailhead is the first stop in Clallam County. East of there, it's Jefferson County. Thank you for doing your part in keeping the trail safe for all users! <https://us.list-manage.com/kZwFJGIQZop?e=ec6d6bb2eb&c2id=4b019dc0600d6fc7b84c515f2b6230e6> Join us for a ribbon cutting - postponed While the new trail section itself in Jefferson County is completed, it is not yet open. The crosswalks between Milo Curry Trailhead and Anderson Lake State Park park are not completed; primarily due to delays in the arrival of equipment needed for the crosswalks and subsequent identification of below road wiring complications. According to John Fleming, Project Manager & Engineer III for Jefferson County Public Works, the crossing beacon at the intersection of Highway 20 and Four Corners, at the Transit Center, is still not done. The work on the crossing beacon began on September 14th and was to be completed in two weeks. The road crews ran into some issues with the wiring that goes underneath the road to the new crossing beacon. Jefferson County thinks we should wait until Anderson Lake State Park reopens for one single, big ribbon cutting party. The section of the Olympic Discovery Trail through Anderson Lake State Park is under construction until February 1, 2027. The work includes paving the entrance road, ADA parking, new restrooms, equestrian area improvements, and the new extension of the Olympic Discovery Trail. We recommend trail users who want to travel west from the Milo Curry trailhead use the Jefferson County Transit bus route to connect westward to either Discovery Bay or Diamond Point Trailhead. The ribbon cutting event will take place as soon as we pass final inspection. You will definitely be invited! Thank you for your patience. Share the trail, stay to the right and leave room for others to pass. Slow down when approaching or passing other trail users, especially where sightlines are limited, and use extra caution at intersections. Bicyclists should yield to walkers, runners and horses; pedestrians and runners should yield to horses. When encountering horses, stop and step to the side of the trail, and bicyclists approaching horses from behind should stop, announce themselves and wait for instructions before passing. Keep pets under control and clean up after them, respect private property, and always stay on the trail. Remember, you are responsible for your own safety; when in doubt, slow down and communicate.
