McMahon has served the Port for more than five years, most recently as Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing economic and business development, real estate, marketing, and community and public relations. During his tenure, McMahon has worked on economic development initiatives spanning industrial recruitment and expansion, aerospace and advanced manufacturing, maritime industries, commercial real estate, and partnerships with local, state, and federal organizations. “I am grateful for the opportunities I have had at the Port and for the people I have had the privilege of working with,” McMahon said. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together, grateful for the trust placed in me over the past five years and have truly enjoyed the work. The Port plays an important role in Clallam County’s economic future, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the organization in my new capacity.” As CCEDC Executive Director, McMahon will lead the countywide organization’s efforts to support business growth and retention, entrepreneurship, workforce and economic development, and new investment in Clallam County. “Leading CCEDC gives me the opportunity to continue work I care deeply about while serving Clallam county,” McMahon said. “I am excited to build on the strong partnerships among CCEDC, the Port, local governments, businesses, tribal partners, educational institutions, and other organizations working to strengthen our regional economy.” Current Executive Director Colleen McAleer will remain with the organization through the new year to support the leadership transition. The partnership between Clallam EDC and EDC Team Jefferson submitted applications for three tracts in Clallam County and two in Jefferson County. Statewide, Washington received 152 applications and nominated 99 tracts. Of those, 36 represent opportunities in rural communities, including the tracts selected in the Emerald Coast Opportunity Zone. A key part of that effort was documenting interest from local investors and business owners who identified projects, business expansions, and development opportunities that could move forward with an Opportunity Zone designation. The applications were strengthened by letters of support from these investors and business owners, who described the investments they would pursue if the proposed areas received the designation. The applications also drew backing from local governments and community partners. Together, 19 letters of support helped show that Clallam County’s communities offer real opportunities for future growth. Clallam EDC extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed. This milestone makes Port Angeles the 41st designated Main Street Community in Washington, joining a statewide network focused on strengthening downtown districts and supporting local economic vitality. The nearest designated community is Port Townsend. Beyond statewide recognition, the designation opens the door to a valuable funding opportunity through Washington’s Main Street Tax Credit Program. The program allows eligible businesses to contribute to the organization and receive a tax credit equal to 75% of their donation against their state Business and Occupation (B&O) tax liability. Municipalities can also participate through the Public Utility Tax. This program creates a new way to direct tax dollars toward local revitalization, helping support efforts to strengthen the Port Angeles Waterfront District and its business community.
