Thank you for the Monday BOCC meeting update on the SMP periodic update. My understanding from Michelle McConnell, the WDOE representative present at Monday's BOCC meeting, is that WDOE
rule changes will impact how updated SMP's will be written, likely meaning that if the Jefferson County SMP is not reviewed and passed by early 2027 then the Jefferson County SMP will
need to again be rewritten to comply. By my count there are 12 weeks before the end of 2026. For getting SMP work completed experience suggests this is a tight timeline.
The DCD and County Administrator mentioned the steps that need to be completed before a final BOCC vote. As of yet the public, and I believe Commissioners, have not seen the Prosecuting
Attorney's Office, rewritten SMP. Could you please provide me a realistic date when we will see the SMP and then a timeline for the necessary steps to get it to a vote by the BOCC.
