Resolution authorizing Diversion 0 oad Levy to Traffic Law Enforcement for the
2012 General Fund Budget
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Board approval is requested of a Resolution authorizing Diversion of Road Levy to Traffic
Enforcement for the 2012 General Fund Budget. .
ANALYSIS:
This action supports the General Fund budget as deacribed below and is authorized by the state.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $720,000 diversion of Road Fund property tax to the General Fund in 2012 is the same dollar
figure as 2010 and 2011, and is equal to or less than the amount of money budgeted to be expended for
traffic law enforcement by the Sheriff in 2012, and is dedicated to that purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve attached resolution authorizing the diversion of Road Levy to Traffic Law Enforcement for
the 2012 Budget.

RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, RCW 36.33.220 authorizes the Board of County Commissioner to divert
any portion of the County Road property taxes to provide traffic law enforcement services in the
unincorporated area of the County; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners intends to utilize the County Road
Fund monies for traffic law enforcement services in the unincorporated areas of the County; and,
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has established a revenue account with revenue code
311.20 for the purpose of identifying the County Road fund monies used for traffic enforcement
in the unincorporated areas of the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Jefferson
County that the Road Tax Levy collected in 2012 be divided with $720,000 deposited in the
Current Expense Fund and identified as revenue code 311.20, and the remainder deposited in the
County Road Fund.
