SUBJECT: Interviews for Clean Water District Advisory Council
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Jefferson County Public Health, Water Quality DMslon, is recommending Interviews of three candidates for
citizen positions on the Clean Water District Advisory Council: Richard Wojt, Amy Leitman and Richard Hull.
ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PROS and CON~,
The following applicants have strong background, experfence and interest In fields relevant to the goals of
the Clean Water District Advisory Council:
.\>~ 1.: Richard Wojt is a former county commissioner with a chemistry background who has been active
with the Hood Canal Coordinating Coundl, North Olympic Salmon Coalition and other organizations.
1>~.2.: Amy Leitman is a marfne biologist who Is a consultant on habitat Issues and has also worked In
shellfish management and been active In local biological and professional organizations.
1>~,;r ~ Richard Hull has training In microbiology and a PhD in Molecular Biology and experfence with public
health issues. He serves on the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Planning Commission.
FISCAL IMPACT /COST BE~EFIT ANALYSIS:
No costs are associated with this proposal.
RECOMMENDATION:
Jefferson County Public Health, Water Quality DMsion, Is recommending Interviews of Richard Wojt, Amy
Leitman and Richard Hull for potential appointment as citizen representatives on the Clean Water DIstrict
Advisory Council.

Mission Statement
The Advisory Council exists to pool expertise related to shellfish and water quality to ensure
continuous, comprehensive water quality monitoring and improved surface water conditions in
East Jefferson County lakes, streams and shorelines.
Goals
1. Create a Water Quality Improvement Plan for East Jefferson County
2. Evaluate program effectiveness annually by December 31
3. Secure sustainable and permanent funding sources
Objectives
. Review WQ project data
. Review and synthesize current planning documents such as department Performance
Measures, Centennial Clean Water Project plans and WRIA 16 and 17 plans into county
wide plan
. Prepare a program evaluation to submit to BoCC 2012 Q4
. Initiate research into funding opportunities
