Statement of Issue:
Call for Bids for Pavement Marking on Jefferson County Roadways for calendar
years 2012 .9: 2013. The Call for Bids is required for publication for procurement
of services in accordance with RCW 36.32.240 ft RCW 39.04.
Analysis/Strategic Goals:
OVer time pavement marking identifying driving lanes, stop lines and
crosswalks lines wear out or become damaged. It is necessary to refresh the
pavement marking annually for. the safety of the motoring public.
This project supports Jefferson County's Strategic Goals numbers 1 and 9.
Fiscal Impact:
Pavement marking work is accounted for in the 2012 and 2013 Department of
Public Works Road Operations budget. The Engineer's Estimate value of this
contract is $418,920.
Recommendation:
The Department of Public Works recommends the Board approve the Call for
Bids, and authorize the Chair to sign the attached Call for Bids where indicated
and return to the Department of Public Works for publishing.

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
CALL FOR BIDS
Notice is hereby given that the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County, State of Washington,
will receive sealed bids for:
PA VEMENTMARKING ON JEFFERSON COUNTY ROADWAYS
FOR CALENDAR YEARS 2012 AND 2013
Bids will be received up until the hour of 9:30 a.m., JANUARY 17. 2012 at the office of the Courtty
Commissioners, basement level of the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, P.O. Box 1220,
Port Townsend, Washington, 98368. Sealed bids will be opened and read publicly at 10:00 a.m. or shortly
thereafter.
This bid is for a 2-year contract to furnish all labor, equipment and materials necessary to complete
pavement marking on Jefferson County Roadways for calendar years 2012 and 2013 in accordance with the
Specifications and Contract Documents and the 2010 edition of the Washington State Department of
Transportation Standard Specifications.
The Engineer's Estimate for this Contract is $418,920.
Bids shall be submitted in accordance with the Specifications and Contract Documents on file at the office of
the Department of Public Works. Printed copies or electronic copies may be obtained by prospective bidders
by contacting:

Each bid shall be accompanied by a surety bond, postal money order,cash, cashier's check or certified check
payable to the Treasurer of Jefferson County in the sum offive (5%) percent of the bid amount, to be forfeited
to Jefferson County by the successful bidder if he/she fails to enter into a contract and file an acceptable
surety bond in the amount of 100% of the contract price within ten (10) working days of the award. The
Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept the bid deemed
most advantageous to Jefferson County and to waive all informalities in the bidding. No facsimile bid
documents will be accepted.

It will be the sole responsibility of the bidder to ensure bids are in the possession of the Board of County
Commissioners by the appointed date and time. The Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to
reject any and bids and to accept the bids deemed most advantageous to Jefferson County and to waive all
informalities in the bidding.
