RESOLUTION NO. Oi-IZ
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners have established, by approval of the
Jefferson County Personnel Administration Manual Chapter 11, Section 17, a policy for emergency
closures during inclement weather; and .
WHEREAS, this policy maintains that because many County services are of primary importance
during emergency conditions all employees should make effort to report for work on a timely basis,
however, if conditions prevail that require the curtailment of County operations for the safety and
welfare of County employees, the Board may order the curtailment of County operations for specific
departments and facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners have adopted Jefferson County
Resolution No. 05-12. authorizing the County Administrator to make a determination as to curtailment
of specific County operations and facilities for the safety and welfare of County employees consistent
with the Jefferson County Personnel Administration Manual Chapter 11, Section 17; said determination
to be submitted for subsequent ratification by the Board through motion or resolution at a later date; and
WHEREAS, a winter storm began on January 17, 2012 that deposited significant amounts of
snow creating treacherous road conditions during morning commute times on January 18, 19 and 20;
and
WHEREAS, the County Administrator determined it was in the interest of the safety and welfare
of citizens and employees to close the Jefferson County Courthouse and Castle Hill Offices (Public
Health, Department of Community Development, and Public Works Administration non-operations)
unti110:00 AM on January 18, 19 and 20, 2012;
NOW, 11lEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners that the
Board hereby ratifies the closure of the Jefferson County Courthouse and Castle Hill Offices (Public
Health, Department of Community Development, and Public Works Administration non-operations)
until 10:00 AM on January 18, 19 and 20, 2012.
