Department of Public Works o Consent Agenda 0 Regular Agenda Page 1 of 1 Jefferson County Board of Commissioners Agenda Request From: Board of Commissioners Philip Morley, County Administrator Frank Gifford, Public Works Director d.-fl4 February 13,2012 To: Agenda Date: Subject: Request for Appointment of Two Solid Waste Advisory Committee Members Statement of Issue: Public Works recently advertised for a Citizen-at-Large position on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC). Shortly after running this advertisement the SWAC District 1 Representative announced her resignation leaving another vacancy. In response to the advertisement, Public Works has received a request for consideration of appointment from two citizens, one as a District 1 Representative (Mr. Richard Dandridge) and one as a Citizen-at-Large (Mr. Richard Talbot). Letters of request are attached for reference. Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's and Con's: Public Works staff reviewed the letters of request with the full SWAC at its January 26th meeting. By unanimous decision, SWAC has directed Public Works staff to request that the Board of County Commissioners consider the appointment of both Mr. Dandridge and Mr. Talbot. Public Works is in agreement with SWAC's recommendation of appointment of both candidates. FiscallmpactlCost Benefit Analysis: Costs associated with SWAC functions, inclusive of the above, are budgeted for in the 2012 Solid Waste Budget.
