Request for Appointment of Two Solid Waste Advisory
Committee Members
Statement of Issue:
Public Works recently advertised for a Citizen-at-Large position on the Solid Waste
Advisory Committee (SWAC). Shortly after running this advertisement the SWAC
District 1 Representative announced her resignation leaving another vacancy.
In response to the advertisement, Public Works has received a request for
consideration of appointment from two citizens, one as a District 1 Representative
(Mr. Richard Dandridge) and one as a Citizen-at-Large (Mr. Richard Talbot). Letters of
request are attached for reference.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's and Con's:
Public Works staff reviewed the letters of request with the full SWAC at its January
26th meeting. By unanimous decision, SWAC has directed Public Works staff to
request that the Board of County Commissioners consider the appointment of both Mr.
Dandridge and Mr. Talbot. Public Works is in agreement with SWAC's
recommendation of appointment of both candidates.
FiscallmpactlCost Benefit Analysis:
Costs associated with SWAC functions, inclusive of the above, are budgeted for in the
