HomeMy WebLinkAbout017 12 Lc':T~J' 4./o.\y Md, AMENDING AND CREATING VOTING PRECINCTS 701,702,703,704 AND 705 STATE OF WASHINGTON COUNTY OF JEFFERSON INTO ELEVEN PRECINCTS 700,701, 702, 703, 704, 705, 706,707,708,709 AND 710 ) ) ) ) ) ) ) RESOLUTION NO. 17-12 WHEREAS, Voting Precincts 701,702,703,704, & 705 are located all within the City of Port Townsend; and WHEREAS, as part of the Jefferson County re.districting process and to reduce the number of voters for each precinct as defined in RCW 29A.16.040 and 29A.16.050, it is now deemed necessary to amend five Voting Precincts and create six additional Voting Precincts all within the City of Port Townsend; and WHEREAS, the precincts changed are defined as precinct 701 split into three precincts, now referred to 701, 702 & 703; precinct 702 split into three precincts, now referred to 704, and creating precincts 709 & 71 0; precinct 703 split into three precincts, now referred to, newly created part 700, part 705 and creating part 706; and precinct 704 split into three precincts, now referred to, newly crcatcd part 700, part 705 and creating part 706; and precinct 705 split into two precincts creating precincts 707 & 708, the same precinct boundary lines adopted in 1993 as part of the Jefferson County re-districting process are being used where ever possible, and legal descriptions will be prepared upon approval of the new boundaries for the precincts in the City of Port Townsend, and attached to this Resolution is a map with new precinct boundary lines. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the precinct boundaries be established and shall be effective no later than April 30, 2012, pursuant to RCW 29A.16.040, which states precinct changes must be finalized 14 days prior to the opening of candidate filing and ending' with the day of the general election. With regard to the administration of elections, some precincts are very small and others exceed the limit of 1500 voters.
