Analysis /Strategic Goals /Pros tt Cons: Jefferson County has been awarded Safe Routes to School grant funds to improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities on SR 19 and West Valley Road, and to encourage students to walk and bike to the Chimacum School through education and traffic enforcement activities. Fiscal Impact /Cost-Benefit Analysis: The estimated project cost is 5464,900. The Safe Routes to School grant is for $438,700 to cover engineering, construction, and the education and enforcement activities. $26,200 from the Road Fund is estimated for right-of-way acquisition along SR 19. Recommendation: Sign the attached Resolution adding the project to the 2012 Annual Road Construction Program, which authorizes Public Works to begin work on the project. Right of Way Acquisition $ 0 $ 26,200 Construction: $ 0 $ 305,800 TOTAL $ 0 $ 464,900 IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and based on the County Engineer's estimate is hereby made in the amounts and for the purpose shown: PURPOSE PREVIOUS APPROPRIATION PRESENT APPROPRIATION Engineering $ 0 $ 132,900 This project is included in the officially adopted annual road program as Item No. X The project is hereby made a part of the officially adopted annual road program in accordance with R.C.W. 36.81.130. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that: X The construction is to be accomplished by contract in accordance with R.C.W. 36.77.020 et. seq. The construction is to be accomplished by County forces in accordance with R.C.W. 36.77.065 and W.A.C. 136.18.
