RESOLUTION NO. 60 -12
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that West Valley Road , County Road No. 514109 , in the vicinity of and as well
as the intersection crosswalk on State Route (SR) 19 and associated frontage of SR 19, be improved as follows:
Improve crosswalks and other pedestrian facilities and perform encouragement and enforcement activities described in
the Safe Routes to School grant application, in order to encourage students to walk and bike to Chimacum School.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and based on the County
Engineer's estimate is hereby made in the amounts and for the purpose shown:

Subject: Project Resolution for SR 19 Pedestrian Crossing Improvement,
Trail Connection, and Student Encouragement
Statement of Issue: A Resolution adding the SR 19 Pedestrian Crossing Improvement,
Trail Connection, and Student Encouragement project to the 2012 Annual
Construction Program.
Analysis / Strategic Goals / Pros ft Cons: Jefferson County has been awarded Safe
Routes to School grant funds to improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities on SR 19 and
West Valley Road, and to encourage students to walk and bike to the Chimacum
School through education and traffic enforcement activities.
Fiscal Impact /Cost- Benefit Analysis: The estimated project cost is $464,900. The
Safe Routes to School grant is for $438,700 to cover engineering, construction, and
the education and enforcement activities. $26,200 from the Road Fund is estimated
for right -of -way acquisition along SR 19.
Recommendation: Sign the attached Resolution adding the project to the 2012
Annual Road Construction Program, which authorizes Public Works to begin work on
the project.
