WORKSHOP MEETING
MINUTES OF APRIL 18,1978
OPENING BUSINESS
Chairman Randolph brought the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
Members present were Karl Randolph, Eva Taylor, Dorithe Harrington, Harry
Pollard, Norris Short, William Svensson, and Finis Stevens.
A quorum was declared by Chairman Randolph.
Representing the Planning Department were Director David Cunningham, Community
Development Planner David Goldsmith, Associate Planner Carol Saari, and Secretary
Laura Southmayd.
Port Townsend leader Reporter Jan Sage was present,
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Copies of the goals and policies sections of "Industiral Development" and
Government" were distribued to members for their review.
It was suggested a policy should be made that would say industrial development
should capitalize on the County's natural assets, such as aquaculture and timber
resources. It was further suggested that this policy should aTs6 say.'i.ndustrial
development should avoi.d,being hazardous to our natural resources.
It was asked what the member's feelings were for energy development. Members
generally agreed that our natural resources and people should be protected. If
such protection could be secured then development of energy facilities, such as
oil or gas transmission lines, could be installed.
III. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m.

The next meeting is scheduled for May-5, 1978.
