SUBJECT: Interviews and Possible Appointment to Serve as a Fire District No. 2
Commissioner
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
In a recent election two (2) incumbent Quilcene Fire District Commissioners have been recalled. Under State
law, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners are responsible for making an appointment to fill one (1)
vacancy, and the newly constituted Quilcene Fire District Board will make a subsequent appointment to fill
the second vacancy.
ANALYSIS:
An advertisement was placed in the newspaper of public record on November 21, 2012 seeking individuals
interested in being considered for the position. The deadline for submitting statements of interest was
November 28, 2012. In response to the advertisement, two (2) individuals submitted statements of interest:
1) Gary Phillips; and 2) Debbie Randall.
Interviews are scheduled with both individuals for Monday, December 3, 2012 as follows:
11:30 a.m. Gary Phillips
11:45 a.m. Debbie Randall
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Interview Mr. Phillips and Ms. Randall and make a decision to appoint one of the individuals to serve as a
Fire District No. 2 Commissioner until the next election for this position.
