Dear Ms. Peterson:
On behalf of the citizens of Jefferson County, we would like to recognize Brian Moorehead of WSDOT
Highways and Local Programs for over 15 years of outstanding service to our county. Brian is a solution
oriented individual who has worked diligently to ensure that Jefferson County benefits from the vital partnership
with Federal Highways and WSDOT to construct and preserve transportation infrastructure. Brian values and
understands the local agency perspective and works with us to find Federal and State solutions to our needs.
Among many accomplishments, Brian has worked with us time and time again to secure ER funding for repairs
to the Upper Hoh Road and Quinault South Shore Road to provide continued access to Olympic National Park.
He was instrumental in helping us acquire and utilize ARRA fittnds in 2009 on a tight timeframe to preserve a
primary freight corridor. Brian supported us in our endeavors to use Federal funds to acquire and develop
sections of the Olympic Discovery Trail and to acquire airspace leases on WSDOT right of way. When it came
time to paint an 800-foot long steel bridge over the Queets River, Brian put us in touch with the right people at
W SDOT to develop estimates and a successful funding package. And when new Federal spending targets were
announced last year, Brian once again worked with us to fast track obligation of funds to meet deadlines.
Brian has a "can do"approach that exemplifies the service we have come to expect from Local Programs. We
thank him and commend him for his service!
Sincerely,
John Austin, Chair David Sullivan, Member Phil Johnson, Member
