This petition was certified by the Jefferson County Auditor's Office. ANALYSIS: Per RCW 36.69.040 the Commissioners must hold a public hearing and determine the boundaries of the proposed Parks and Recreation District. The hearing notice will be published in the Leader on June 26 and July 3 and 10, 2013. RECOMMENDATION: Approve resolution and publish a notice setting a hearing for July 15, 2013 ~ 11:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Chambers. To be Located Within a Certain } Specified Area in Port Ludlow, and } Setting A Public Hearing Date } WHEREAS, on the 7th day of June, 2013, the Jefferson County Auditor submitted a petition, together with a certificate of sufficiency attached thereto, to the Boazd of Jefferson County Commissioners, for the establishment of a Park and Recreation District to be located within the Master Planned Resort of Port Ludlow; and, WHEREAS, upon receipt of such petition, it is the duty of the County Commissioners to fix a day and hour when they will publicly hear the petition, as provided in RCW 36.69.040; and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners hereby acknowledges receipt of a petition for the formation of a Pazk and Recreation District, to be located within the Master Planned Resort Port Ludlow, and sets the day of July 15, 2013, at the hour of 11:00 a.m., at which time a public hearing will be held in the Commissioners' Chambers, Courthouse, Port Townsend, Washington, for the purpose of taking both oral and written testimony from all interested persons regarding the formation of a Park and Recreation District and its proposed boundary described as the Master Planned Resort of Port Ludlow. This petition contains a total of 485 signatures. A total of 382 signatures were checked. Of those checked, there are 337 valid signatures from registered voters; 21 not registered; 16 Out of District; three (3) with no signature; and five (5) signatures don't match. 103 signatures were not checked. Attached is a Petition Result Breakdown. This petition needs signatures from 15% of the total registered voters in the proposed area to be sufficient. The total number needed is 332. This petition does meet that requirement and is now being certified as being Sufficient.
