Subject: Resolution to Create County Project
Dowans Creek Road Realignment, Project No. CR17993
Statement of Issue: A Resolution is necessary to create Project No. CR17993 for the
permanent realignment of Dowans Creek Road.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: Jefferson County has received funding from the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Washington State for the
realignment of Dowans Creek Road between milepost 0.83 and milepost 1.51. The road
realignment is necessary in order to move the road out of an active landslide area and
preserve access to properties served by Dowans Creek Road beyond the slide area.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: The total project cost is estimated at $964,142
and is funded at 75% by FEMA, 12.5% by Washington State, and 12.5% by the County Road
Fund.
Recommendation: The Board is requested to sign one original of the Resolution to
Create a County Project.

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that Dowans Creek Road ,County Road No. 146809 , be improved as follows:
This project provides for realigning the road away from an active land slide area between milepost 0.83 and milepost 1.51.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and based on the County
Engineer's estimate is hereby made in the amounts and for the purpose shown:

The construction is to be accomplished by County forces in accordance with R.C.W. 36.77.065 and W.A.C. 136.18.
