Subject: Release of Final Shoreline Restoration Plan
We are pleased to release the Final Shoreline Restoration Plan, a required component of the ongoing
Shoreline Master Program (SMP) Comprehensive Update project. This report was completed with the
assistance and expertise of consultant teams from ESA Adolfson and Battelle Marine Sciences Laboratory and
with funding and technical support from Washington Department of Ecology. This document reflects significant
change and improvement from the October 2007 draft and June 2008 revised versions based on valuable
committee feedback and extensive input from WA Dept. of Ecology, as well as informal public comments.
We believe this document fulfills the restoration planning requirements of WAC 173-26-201 and will serve as a
critical companion to the pending SMP in achieving no net loss of ecological functions. As the policies and
regulations of the SMP will protect existing resources from new adverse impacts, the implementation of this
Plan will help improve areas already degraded or impaired to raise the baseline conditions of shoreline health
over time.
