SUBJECT: PROCLAMATION re: Recognizing Don Ward for 36 Years of Service as
a Jefferson County Cemetery District 92 Commissioner
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Commissioner David Sullivan has requested that the Board review a proclamation recognizing Don Ward for
his 36 years of service as a Jefferson County Cemetery District 42 Commissioner.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the PROCLAMATION recognizing Don Ward for his 36 years of service as a Jefferson County
Cemetery District #2 Commissioner.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Don Ward has served as a Jefferson County Cemetery District #2
Commissioner for the past 36 years; and
WHEREAS, at 91 years of age, Don Ward is the second oldest citizen born in Quilcene;
and
WHEREAS, Don Ward was a founding member of the public formation of the Jefferson
County Cemetery District #2 Board in 1978 and retired from that Board in January 2014; and
WHEREAS, Don Ward has been a pillar of the community as a brother, son, husband,
father, grandfather, great grandfather and great -great grandfather; and
WHEREAS, Don Ward has served and been a member of many organizations such as
the Quilcene Fire Department, Quilcene Museum, Quilcene Presbyterian and Bible Churches
and the Quilcene Schools; and
WHEREAS, Don Ward spent many years maintaining the Quilcene Cemetery, its
physical environment, layout, upkeep, and record keeping that is so important to this public
organization;
NOW THEREFORE, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, do hereby
recognize
Don Ward
for his energy, knowledge and commitment to our community and his dedication to the citizens
of Quilcene.
