From: Monte Reinders P.E., Public Works Director /County Engineer /wc /
Agenda Date: July 14, 2014
Subject: Resolution to Create a County Project known as;
Dosewallips Rd Permanent Slide Repair, MP 1.60 - 1.75
County Road No. 250009
Statement of Issue: Create a county project for the Dosewallips Rd permanent slide
repair for the March 6, 2014 landslide that occurred at MP 1.67 on the Dosewallips Rd
and add the project to the 2014 Annual Road Construction Program.
Analysis /Strategic Goals /Pro's it Con's: On April 24, 2014 Jefferson County received
funding from the County Road Administration Board (CRAB) in the amount of $257,400
to reimburse the County for the emergency slide repair made in March on Dosewallips
Rd and to fund a permanent repair project. The permanent repair will address
subsurface water through the installation of catch basins, under drains and extruded
asphalt curb to direct water away from the slide site. Work will also include guardrail
and pavement overlay.
Fiscal Impact /Cost Benefit Analysis: The total estimated cost for the permanent
repair is $160,000. CRAB funding, in the amount of $144,000 will provide for 90% of
the project cost. This funding requires a 10% match contribution, in the amount of $16,000
from the County. The County match will be funded using the County Road Fund.
Recommendation: Public Works recommends the Board adopt this resolution thereby
creating a County project known as the Dosewallips Rd Permanent Slide Repair, MP
