Analysis /Strategic Goals /Pros & Cons: A request for bids for a five -year contract for all - /four- wheel -drive police -rated sport- utility vehicles was issued, and bids are due to be opened today. Fiscal Impact /Cost Benefit Analysis: While similar vehicles have been purchased using Washington State contracts, it is necessary to put in place a long -term contract controlled by the County to allow vehicle order timing to be staggered. Fleet Services staff cannot simultaneously upfit several vehicles, but staggered deliveries throughout each calendar year will allow in- house upfitting to be performed efficiently and vehicles issued more quickly, preserving the factory warranty and reducing vehicle depreciation during upfitting. Recommendation: Direct the opening of bids at 10:15 am and that Fleet Services evaluate bids and return at a later date with a recommendation of award.
