SUBJECT: Setting a public hearing date and notice for publication regarding Ordinance No.
07- 0811 -14: marijuana moratorium
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
On August 11, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) adopted Ordinance # 07- 0811 -14,
establishing a six month moratorium on accepting or processing applications for recreational
marijuana businesses in certain land use zones. Pursuant to State law, a public hearing is required
to be held within 60 days of the moratorium. The public hearing is proposed to be held on Monday,
October 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cotton Building, 607 Water Street Port Townsend
ANALYSIS:
The attached Hearing Notice will be advertised in the Port Townsend Leader newspaper on August
27 and on September 17, 2014, prior to the public hearing on October 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. In the
Cotton Building, 607 Water Street, Port Townsend. The Board will hear public testimony regarding
the moratorium at that time. Written testimony on the moratorium will be accepted until the close of
the public hearing.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the attached public hearing notice regarding Ordinance # 07- 0811 -14.

JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners will hold a
public hearing on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Cotton Building, 607 Water Street,
Port Townsend, 98368, to hear public comment on Ordinance # 07- 0811 -14 moratorium on accepting
or processing of permits for recreational marijuana in certain zones.
