HomeMy WebLinkAboutJune 26 Staff ReportJefferson County WA June 26, 2014 SWAC Solid Waste Staff Report  Tonnage/Revenue Solid waste tonnage through May is down 1.3% compared to the same period in 2013; this is noted across all customer categories while customer transactions have not decreased. Recycling in the last 12 months is up 4.4% compared with the previous 12 months.  Coordinated Prevention Grant – Offset Cycle 2013 – 2015 The offset cycle grant application to fund two HHW collection events (Quilcene and Port Ludlow) has been approved.  Contracts Contracts or Agreements signed recently include: 1. Scale Repair – awarded to Mettler Toledo, work to be completed in August. 2. Agreement for credit card verification and processing services to Authorize.net  Operations Staff is working on: 1. Routine equipment annual maintenance 2. A contract renewal for the landfill gas flare annual maintenance. 3. Revisions to the Solid Waste website to make it more user friendly. 4. Updating Solid Waste and MRW Operations & Maintenance Plans. 5. Recommendations for revisions to the 2008 SWMP.  Capital Projects - 2014 Current projects include: 1. The potable water line extension to the Quilcene dropbox site is completed, service to be turned on when the Roads Shop construction project is complete. 2. Planning for upgrades to oil/antifreeze collection sites.  SWAC Membership We have openings, and will be advertising, for Committee members from Districts #1, #2 and #3.
