Subject: Call For Bids for the Jefferson County Courthouse Window
Rehabilitation Project
Statement of Issue: Call for Bids for the Jefferson County Courthouse Window
Rehabilitation project. The project is a window rehabilitation and /or reconstruction
project for windows in the Superior Courtroom facing Walker Street and Franklin
Street.
Analysis /Strategic Goals /Pro's ft Con's: This work is being performed to extend the
life of the Courthouse facility.
Fiscal Impact /Cost Benefit Analysis: The project is funded by a $100,000 grant from
the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation
Courthouse Rehabilitation Grant program and by a $26,500 local match.
Recommendation: We recommend that the Board approve the Call for Bids and
authorize the Chair to sign the attached Call for Bids

CALL FOR BIDS
Notice is hereby given that the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County, State of Washington,
will receive sealed bids up until 9:30 A.M. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Office of the County
Commissioners, basement level of the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend,
Washington, 98368. Bids may be mailed to the office of the Board of County Commissioners, P.O. Box
1220, Port Townsend, WA, but must be received by the previously stated date and time. Sealed bids will
be opened and read publicly at or about 10:00 A.M. or shortly thereafter, on Monday, January 26, 2015, at
the Jefferson County Commissioners Chambers, basement level of the Jefferson County Courthouse, for the
Jefferson County Courthouse Window Rehabilitation Project.
This project is for the rehabilitation of nine historic wood window groups located at the Superior
Courtroom on the second floor of the Jefferson County Courthouse. This includes six window groups on
the Franklin St. facade and three window groups on the Walker St. facade. Mechanical access equipment
to be provided by the Contractor. There will be a non - mandatory Pre -Bid Meeting at the site on January
15, 2015 from 11:30 till 1:00 p.m. A hi -lift will be available permit inspection of the exterior windows.
The Architect's estimate for this project is $88,157 including WSST. Bids must be submitted in writing
on the forms provided, and sealed.
Bids shall be submitted in accordance with the plans and specifications on file at the office of the Director of
Central Services, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, Washington, 98368 (360- 385 -9130) email:

Each bid shall be accompanied by a surety bond, postal money order, cash, cashier's check or certified check
payable to the Treasurer of Jefferson County in the sum of 5% of the bid amount, to be forfeited to Jefferson
County by the successful bidder if he fails to enter into a contract and file an acceptable surety bond in the
amount of 100% of the contract price within ten (10) days of the award. The board of County Commissioners
reserve the right to reject any and all bids, and to accept the bid deemed most advantageous to Jefferson
County and to waive all informalities in the bidding.
