Waste Water Designs by William L Russell, 200 E Arellem Rd., Union WA 98592 360-898-3773 FAX 360-898-3774 Washington, LIC. # 5100184 wrussell@a,hctc.com Nov. 9, 2007 DESIGNER COMMENTS AND REQUIREMENTS For John Brush 1. PROPERTY LINES: The designer is using property lines as indicated by others. The property owner is responsible for establishing necessary property lines to assure proper placement of the system. 2. UTILITIES: Property owner is responsible for the location of all utility lines (water, sewer, power, phone, and gas) before the installation of the system begins. Note: any water lines within 10 feet of the system must be encased with a second pipe (see code). Or removed. 3. SEWER PIPE: Sewer delivery pipe to septic tank must be ASTM 3034 PVC PIPE, and shall have at least 1/8th" fall per foot. Pipe bedding should be placed under pipe, so as to prevent deflection of the pipe when backfill is place on it. In tall sewer line clean out at about 2 feet from building. ,/j/ 4. OLD SEPTIC TANK: N/A rb A /1v'" ' 5. SEPTIC TANK: 1200-gallon with an outlet filter ) /v' 6. PUMP CHAMBER: 1000-ga n tank is to be i tatted or larger. Location of tanks still must meet all set back requirements. 7. TANKS: Shall be water tight. 8. DRIP LINE FILTRATION: Will be provided by an inline automatic self cleaning Vortex. Filter. See control VALVE page. 9. WATER SUPPLY: PRIVATE 10. DESIGN CRITERIA: Because the designer cannot control how the system is used, and in some cases how it was installed, the designer assumes no responsibility for the for the life of the system. If any changes are made to the design without approval of the Designer and Jefferson County this design shall become null and void. 11. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS: Electrical control equipment should be installed near to the pump chamber and accessible to the O/M people. All floats will be installed on a separate mast and not to be attached to the pump (or its plumbing). All electrical installations must meet State of Washington Department of Labor and Industries rules and regulations, and also must be inspected by it. 12. NOTE: By law the installing contractor is not to perform any electrical connections, unless that contractor is also licensed to do so. 13. SITE CLEARING: The chosen primary drainfield site should need little if any clearing. However the reserve area needs to have stumps and trees removed within 10 feet. This part should be accomplished during dry weather Use extreme care when removing stumps to prevent disturbing any soil any more than necessary. Need all the vertical separation we can get. 14. LAYOUT: Designer has staked the location of the drainfield. The designer will assist the installer with any layout questions if needed. 15. EQUIPMENT USED: As needed 16. STORM WATER: Storm water shall be diverted away from the absorption and tank areas. Although this should not be a problem on this site. 17. CURTAIN DRAINS: N/A on this job. 18.WELL TO TRANSPORT LINES: N/A this job. NOV 1.4 2007 Jefferson County Environmental Health • 19. QUALIFIED INSTALLERS: Since this system is very sensitive to errors, only installers who have demonstrated high standards of construction and have experience with drip • systems should attempt to install this system. And or willing to be supervised by this designer. This designer will charge a fee for this service, and for these services after the first (pre construction) meeting. 20. Only licensed installers shall be used. If a homeowner attempts to install this system, this designer considers this design to be null and void. Unless special arrangements have been made with the designer and presiding governing officials. 21. UTILITIES: Call for locate before doing any digging. 22. TANKS: Installer needs to know the planned elevation of the building stub out. This exchange of information could save one hell of headache. When the tanks are installed before the home is built. W1i94 / e 2o7 A word about operation and maintenance. This type of system is required by the state to subscribe to an operation and maintenance program. This designer will help owner find a suitable O&M specialist. The county will require evidence of an O&M program before giving the final approval of this system. Concerning drip line supply's and how to install would fill many pages. Hence the installer should take time to look up web sites, and glean all the information possible. Suppliers will be more than happy to help. IMPORTANT: How to prevent effluent from draining along the manifold connections from the drip line on steep sites. Work in some bentonite at the end of each drip line. When it gets wet it will expand and make a good plug. The required reserve will be by constructing the reserve area. However in real life one would just install new drip lines between the old ones. When properly maintained this should never happen. RFCEVt) NOV 14 200 Jefferson County Environmental Health
