Subject: Parks, Recreation and Open Space Comprehensive Plan Review
Statement of Issue: An update of the 2002 Parks, Recreation and Open Space
Comprehensive Plan has been prepared and is ready for review, public hearing and
eventual adoption by the BoCC. The plan is required by the Recreation and
Conservation Office to qualify for grants, and is an element of the County
Comprehensive Plan.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's: Working closely with the Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board, the plan was prepared over the course of 18 months by
staff, and a consultant. The plan has numerous pros: advance planning of the needs
for parks and recreation in the community, eligibility for grants, and compliance with
the GMA. There are no known cons. The plan is available online at:

Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: Fiscal benefits include responsible park
development and recreation program implementation, as well as grants.
Recommendation: Review the plan and provide input for subsequent presentation
and public hearing.
