IN THE MATTER OF A DETERMINATION }
TO DECLARE CERTAIN COUNTY }
PROPERTY AS SURPLUS } RESOLUTION NO. 29-15
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County Commissioners of Jefferson County to
dispose of surplus property; and
WHEREAS, the various departments have indicated a need to dispose of those
items on the list of surplus equipment attached to this Resolution, to be disposed,
transferred, recycled or sold at a public auction to be held on September 25, 2015 to be
sold by James G. Murphy, Inc., of Kenmore, Washington at the County Shop located at
371 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock, WA, and
WHEREAS, RCW 36.34.020 requires that an intention to declare surplus be
published with a Notice of Public Hearing regarding the disposal of any County property
has been met and the public hearing held on August 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Commissioners of Jefferson
County that they make a finding and determination as required by RCW 36.34.050 to
declare the particularly described property as surplus and allow the Treasurer to proceed
with the disposition of said surplus items.

SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING: Disposal of Surplus County Equipment
ATTACH: Resolution to Declare Certain County Property as Surplus
with Lists of Surplus Equipment for Auction
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Public Works Solid Waste, Public Works Roads and Parks, Public
Health, Central Services, and Sheriffs Office have surplus equipment to be disposed. RCW
36.34.020, 36.34.030, 36.34.340, 36.34.050 & 36.34.090 outline statutory requirements to
dispose of property. The list of equipment is included with the draft Resolution.
Notice of Public Hearing and Intention to Surplus was provided August 12 and 19, 2015.
ANALYSIS: Large equipment to be sold auction by James G Murphy, Inc., of Kenmore,
Washington at the Jefferson County Shop located at 371 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock,
Washington on September 25, 2015.
Additional miscellaneous items valued at less than $2,500 will be included in the auction and
are not required to have public notice. These items are listed in the attached resolution in
order to comply with the county disposal process but were not listed in the public notice
published in the newspaper.
FISCAL IMPACT: Minimal revenue is expected. Proceeds from items will be returned to
individual departments separately (after Treasurer and Auditor publication expenses and
the auctioneer's percentage are deducted).
RECOMMENDATION: Approve sale with the Resolution to Declare Certain County
Property as Surplus.
