Analysis /Strategic Goals /Pro's Et Con's: This Contract is for construction of the road realignment between Dowans Creek Road milepost 0.85 and milepost 1.53. The road realignment is necessary in order to move the road out of an active landslide area and preserve access to properties served by Dowans Creek Road beyond the slide area. Change Order No. 1 was proposed by the Contractor to utilize an alternate material for road embankment construction, providing a cost savings to the County. Fiscal Impact /Cost Benefit Analysis: This change order will decrease the original contract amount by $6,825.00, from $338,466.75 to $331,641.75. This project is funded at 75% by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 12.5% by Washington State, and 12.5% by the County Road Fund. Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the Board execute all three originals of Change Order No. 1 with Bruch and Bruch Construction and return two (2) originals to Public Works for further processing. Materials Section 8 -15.2 is supplemented with the following: Materials for Quarry Spall Blend will be be visually approved and accepted by the Engineer. Measurement Section 8 -15.4 is supplemented with the following: Quarry Spall Blend will be measured by the cubic yard of Quarry Spall Blend actually placed. Payment Section 8-15.5 is supplemented with the following: "Quarry Spall Blend", per cubic yard. The unit price for the blended material shall be $32.35icy. The estimated total decrease in the contract amount for this change order is as follows: (1,300 cy)`($37.60 - $32.35) = $6,825.00 All work materials and measurement to be in accordance with the provisions of the standard specifications and special provisions for the type of construction involved.
