E., Public Works Director/County Engineer,,,�� Agenda Date: November 9, 2015 Subject: Change Order No. 4, Dowans Creek Road Realignment, County Project No. CR17993, FEMA 1734 -DR -WA, Grant No. E08-796 Statement of Issue: Change Order No. 4 with Bruch and Bruch Construction for the Dowans Creek Road Realignment, County Project No. CR17993. Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Ft Con's: This Contract is for construction of the road realignment between Dowans Creek Road milepost 0.85 and milepost 1.53. The road realignment is necessary in order to move the road out of an active landslide area and preserve access to properties served by Dowans Creek Road beyond the slide area. A new item Crushed Surfacing Top Course was added to provide necessary road surface performance on the steepest grades on the project (14% to 15%). While under AASHTO grade maximums, these grades require special surfacing for long-term performance. Also increasing is the item Water as a minor quantity adjustment for water used project wide. Contract was physically completed October 27tH Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: This change order will increase the contract amount by $23,800 to $460,094.75. This project is funded at 75% by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 12.5% by Washington State, and 12.5% by the County Road Fund. Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the Board execute all three originals of Change Order No. 4 with Bruch and Bruch Construction and return two (2) originals to Public Works for further processing. This change order authorizes the following: Add 600 CY of Crushed Surfacing Top Course (New Item No. 24) at $33.00/CY. Increase Water (Bid Item No. 17) quantity 100 MGAL (1000 Gallons per MGAL) for a total quantity of 126 MGAL. All work materials and measurement to be in accordance with the provisions of the standard specifications and special provisions for the type of construction involved.
