RE: Request for Lodging Tax Advisory Committee Appointments
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Board of County Commissioners will hold interviews to
consider appointments to three open seats on the county's Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.
ANALYSIS: The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) is appointed and operates in
conformance with Chapter 3.25 of the Jefferson County Code, and Chapter 67.28 of the Revised
Code of Washington (especially RCW 67.28.1817), The LTAC recommends to the County
Commissioners annual expenditures of lodging tax funds received by the County for tourism
promotion. It also advises the BoCC on tourism development strategy.
JCC 3.25.020 establishes the LTAC with five seats: two members from establishments that
produce the tax revenue, two members representing activities authorized to be funded by the tax,
and one member from the BoCC, who shall serve as the chair of the LTAC. In practice, terms
have been staggered, lasting three years each. The most recent roster of the LTAC is attached to
this agenda request memo for reference.
Three seats are presently open:
• --1 tax Producer seat, for a term of August 16, 2014 to August 15, 2017
• 2 tax Recipient seats, each for a term of July 24, 2015 to July 23, 2018

its meeting on November 9.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: Interview the five applicants and make appointments to three seats:
• 1 tax Producer seat, for a term of August 16, 2014 to August 15, 2017;
• Tax Recipient seat 41, for a term of July 24, 2015 to July 23, 2018;
• Tax Recipient seat #2, for a term of July 24, 2015 to July 23, 2018;
