STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
HEARING NOTICE re: Proposed Ordinance Establishing Animal Control Regulations for Jefferson
County; Hearing Scheduled for Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Chamber
ANALYSIS:
The hearing notice will be advertised on November 25 and December 2, 2015 in The Leader. The public
hearing is scheduled for December 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. The Board will hear public testimony regarding
proposed ordinance. Written testimony on the proposed ordinance will be accepted until the close of the
public hearing.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing regarding an amended proposed animal control
ordinance for unincorporated Jefferson County is scheduled by the Jefferson County Board of
Commissioners for Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Chamber,
County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA.
The amended proposed Ordinance contains the following sections:
Section One: Repeal chapter 6.05 Animal Responsibility of the County Code
Section Two: Create a new chapter 6.07 Animal Responsibility in the County Code with the
following sections:
Purpose.
Definitions.
Seizing and Impounding.
Enforcement.
Animal at large.
Running in packs.
Jumping and barking at persons.
Chasing vehicles.
Injury to property or person.
Female in heat.
Harboring vicious or dangerous domesticated animal.
Nuisance noise.
Entry into food establishments.
Waste.
Tethered animals
Releasing stray to Animal Control or Shelter Operator.
Injured or diseased animals.
Quarantine.
Adoption from Animal Shelter or Animal Welfare Facility — Spay/neuter requirement —
License requirement.
Shelter Operator — Duties.
Notice of impounding.
Redemption of animal.
Interference with impounding.
Dog control zone established.
Dog license — Required.
Vaccination requirements for dogs and cats
Animal license — Fee.
Date due.
Issuance of licenses.
