Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's: Landslide activity has severely damaged the structure of Undi Road at MP 1.1. Contractors and County personnel are currently on site performing road protection and reconstruction activities. A temporary road closure is necessary to facilitate emergency repair work. This closure is to protect the public and construction workers, and will potentially reduce construction delays due to interference by the motoring public. There are 16 private parcels beyond the damaged road segment with no alternative access. The road will remain open to those property owners and mail delivery, but will be closed to all other vehicular traffic from the date of execution of this resolution until further notice. Pedestrian access will be provided through the site for the duration of repair activities. The duration of this repair work is unknown at this time. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: The proposed closure will improve the efficiency and economy of this road repair action. Recommendation: The Board is requested to execute the attached Resolution for Temporary Road Closure and return a copy to Public Works for further processing. STATE OF WASHINGTON COUNTY OF JEFFERSON RESOLUTION NO. WHEREAS, slide activity has severely damaged the Road Structure at MP 1.1 on Undi Road, County Road No. 150009, and WHEREAS, a potential hazard exists to the motoring public and the construction workers conducting emergency repairs, and WHEREAS, Chapter 47.48 R.C.W. authorizes closure of roads, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that said Undi Road be temporarily closed between milepost 0.09 and the termination of the road to all traffic, commencing on February 11, 2016 until further notice. In December 2015, road settlement of up to one foot per day occurred during storm events and a large culvert separated. A culvert replacement was done in January 2016. Crews continue to conduct almost daily maintenance at this site. Cracks continue to rip through the middle of the road causing significant differential settlement. This entire stretch of road was once fairly level and flat.
