COMMENTS&GENERAL INSPECTION NOTES Deficiencies Noted:deficiencies must be corrected to ensure proper longevity of the Onsite Sewage System. 1-No permit is on file as to size, location or adequacy and it could not be determined. 2-The septic tank is not an old tank and it had about 3 inches of water in the bottom of tank.Owner said it had been pumped a few months ago. There were old scum line mark at bottom of outlet baffle.Would need pumping report or do water test to ensure integrity of tank. 3-A revised"Plot Plan"is en route to County. Note-There are two other residences on property. One was a mobile that has been removed and the other a frame house(#527)that looks abandoned(Wires cut, etc.) Note-Owner says he thinks there was a permit and will try to find it. Contact County for more information. Owner said the well is a 2-3 party well on adjacent property. It was not seen. This inspection found the following item/s of concern that require correction: 1. Health Department records show that a permit was obtained but expired without being completed and the records were archived and destroyed per Washington State Archive rules. 2. A full evaluation identifying the location of septic system components will be required prior to further approvals or permitting. The full evaluation requires that the distribution box and the ends of all drainfield laterals be uncovered and inspected by Health Department staff. An hourly rate will be charged for inspection. 3. The septic tank will need to tested for water-tightness prior to further approvals. 4. Information in the file indicates that the water supply serving the property serves several other properties. A well serving more than two single family residences is classified as a public water supply and must have review and approval by the Washington State Department of Health. I am enclosing a brochure with more information. The purpose of proper maintenance is so the County, for the benefit and protection of the public's health, is assured by this department that these systems are designed, installed and maintained in a proper manner. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. If you should have further questions please contact this office at 385-9444. The code sections referenced are attached for your information. This letter is intended to serve as formal notice that further approvals may be withheld until this work is completed and approved by Health Department staff. Postponing correction may result in premature failure of the septic system. A permit is required for any repair or modification of an onsite sewage system per Washington Administrative Code 246-272A and Jefferson County Code 8.15.
