It is accessed by Dabob County Road. Site address is 5185 Dabob Road, Quilcene, WA. 98376. Project description: The proposal includes an even -aged harvest (Clearout) harvest of approximately 15 MBF (thousand board feet) of timber from approximately .9 acres in proposed clearing located in the north half of the parcel. Approximately 400 feet of 10-12' running surface road will be constructed along the west parcel boundary to access the clearing. This road will be surfaced with crashed rock to avoid mud or dirt on Dabob Road. The future homesite clearing will be approximately .9 acres. A few additional trees may be harvested outside of the road and proposed clearing if needed for safety or to complete a partial load of logs. In no case outside of the road and clearing will more than 30% of the trees over 12" be removed. Stumps will be removed from the clearing and from the clearing limits of the proposed road. Logging generated slash and stumps may be burned in a pile in the center of the clearing under the conditions of the appropriate bum permit. Contractor may elect to remove the stumps from the site for off-site chipping. Native shrub cover will be disturbed only in the road right of way and the cleared area. Most of the shrub cover within the perimeter 50 foot zone will remain undisturbed. Logging will be done by ground based equipment including rubber tired skidder, tracked skidder or shovel. There are no wetlands or streams on or adjacent to the property. All operations are planned for dry season to minimize soil disturbance and reduce road rock needs. Current Stand Conditions: All of this property has been logged at least once and most of it two or more times since the original old growth was removed sometime before 1920. A second logging operation likely salvaged remaining trees in the 1940s or 1950s, then an ITS harvest was also done in the 1980s. The current stand is approximately 50% Douglas fir (DF), 30% red cedar (RC), 10 % grand fir (GF) / western hemlock (WI -1) and 25% deciduous species including red alder and Big -leaf maple. Understory shrubs include ocean spray, salal, Indian plum, salmonberry, Oregon grape, sword hem, native trailing blackberry, evergreen and red huckleberry. Stand age is predominantly 50-70 years with some scattered, defective cedar which may be slightly older. 0 C A;R112016 DO JEFFERSON COUNTY DCD ML.A16-(=S5Ar PAI1a-00061
