Subject: Planning Commission District 1 re -appointment
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
A position in District 1 of the Jefferson County Planning Commission expired March 17, 2016.
ANALYSIS
The Board of County Commissioners (Board) has established a "Planning Agency" comprised of the
Department of Community Development (DCD) and the Planning Commission. Pursuant to the
originating action (Resolution #54-97), the Commission is to assist DCD in carrying out its duties by
engaging the public in the preparation and review of comprehensive plans and development
regulations. Recommendations made by the Planning Commission are forwarded to the Board on
matters before the Board.
A position in District 1 of the Jefferson County Planning Commission expired March 17, 2016.
This position was advertised in the newspaper of record, PT Leader, on March 30, 2016 and again on
April 6, 2016, as well as posted on the Jefferson County website from March until May 2016. A sole
application for the position has been submitted by Mr. Gary Felder.
FISCAL IMPACT/COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
There is no fiscal impact to the County's General Fund for re -appointing one member to serve on the
Planning Commission (PC). The 2016 PC Budget is based on nine (9) PC members and these
appointees would serve as part of the group.
RECOMMENDATION:
Reappoint Gary Felder as a District 1 representative on the Planning Commission to serve a full-term
until March 17, 2020.
