Re: Building permit application for a duplex residence at 90 South
Chandler Court of Inner Harbor Village within Section 17, Township
28 North, Range 1 East
Dear Mr. Lander:
The proposed structure is within the development permitted under Shoreline
Substantial Development Permit 88-0016 Pope Resources. This development
is subject to the regulation of the Jefferson-Port Townsend Shoreline
Master Program and the conditions of SDP 88-0016. In particular this
development is subject to the Vegetation Management Formula (VMF) agreed
to by Pope Resources and Jefferson County as specified in Permit Condition
15.
As noted in my letter to David Cunningham dated December 10, 1990, there
have been several areas of Pope Resources property where the VMF has been
violated, in particular the shoreline areas northerly and southerly of the
Community Center (designated Area A and Area B respectively). The duplex
is proposed for construction on this property. My letter to Mr. Cunningham
instructs Pope Resources to assess the vegetation removal in these areas
and to submit a detailed plan for review by this department addressing the
extent of violation and specific remedies for vegetation restoration.
I am aware that Pope Resources has taken significant steps to restore areas
where vegetation was removed. However, to date Pope Resources has not yet
submitted the required plan for review by this department. Until this
requirement is met and this matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of
Jefferson County, this department will not issue further building permits
to Pope Resources for structures within the development permitted under
SDP 88-0016 that are on property where the VMF has been violated.
If you have any questions or if I can be of assistance in resolving this
matter, please don't hesitate to contact me.
since ly,
