SUBJECT: Appointment for District 5 seat on Jefferson County Noxious Weed Control
Board.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
The Jefferson County Noxious Weed Control Board (JCNWCB) is organized under RCW 17.10 to coordinate the
management of noxious weeds in order to prevent, control, or mitigate the spread of these species to protect
human health, livestock, wildlife, native habitat, and ecosystem functioning in ecological as well as economical
terms.
The JCNWCB held a public hearing on 5/19 to receive public comment on the appointment for the District 5 Board
member seat. After the public hearing the JCNWCB met and decided to recommend Lissa Bennett to be appointed
by BoCC to fill the position of District 5 on the JCNWCB.
The JCNWCB advertised the Weed Board vacancies on 10/07/2015, 10/28/2015, and 01/13/2016 in the PT Leader,
as well as the Peninsula Daily News (on other dates), and on the County website. The JCNWCB received one
application from Lissa Bennett
RECOMMENDATION:
The Jefferson County Noxious Weed Control Board requests that the Board of County Commissioners review and
appoint Lissa Bennett for District 5. Sem ,--C R
