Re: Letter of Assurance for the Accessible Communities Act
Dear Ms. Hines:
Jefferson
Townsend,
In accordance with the Accessible Communities Act (Chapter 215, Laws of 2010), Jefferson County
assures the Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment that it has established an
active cross -disability Accessible Communities Advisory Committee (ACAC).
The Jefferson County ACAC membership includes people who have a disability and/or work in the
field, volunteer or are a parent of a child with a disability. Attached is a list of the ACAC members and
their qualifications. We pride ourselves that membership includes persons with a diverse range of
disabilities who are knowledgeable in identifying and eliminating attitudinal, programmatic,
communication and physical barriers encountered by persons with disabilities.
Thank you for the $24,165 grant that the Jefferson County ACAC received in 2015-16. The following
is a list of local projects that were funded with the objective of improving awareness, acceptance,
inclusion and access for people with disabilities in our community.

People with disabilities continue to face barriers that could be easily eliminated, but in the short time
the ACAC has been in Jefferson County we have seen the positive effects of this opportunity. When
people who have disabilities are welcomed and included in all aspects of our communities, everyone
benefits. Jefferson County looks forward to continuing this excellent grant opportunity.
The undersigned certifies the above assurances concerning the ACAC membership have been met.
