HomeMy WebLinkAbout090616_ca07Consent Agenda Commissioners Office JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners FROM: Philip Morley, County Administrator Erin Lundgren, Clerk of the Board DATE: September 6, 2016 SUBJECT: Appointment to fill a vacancy on the Port Ludlow Drainage District Governing Body; Katie Smith to serve the remainder of an unexpired term until the next special district general election in February 2018 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: A vacancy currently exists on the Port Ludlow Drainage District (PLDD) governing body, due to the recent resignation of PLDD member Jim Boyer. Pursuant to RCW 85.38.070, whenever a vacancy occurs in the governing body of a special district, the legislative authority of the county within which the special district, or the largest portion of the special district, is located, shall appoint a district voter to serve the remainder of the unexpired term until a person is elected at the next special district general election, which will take place in February 2018. ANALYSIS: The remaining two members of the PLDD governing body submitted a letter dated August 25, 2016, to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), notifying the BOCC of the vacancy created by the resignation of Jim Boyer, and recommending the appointment of Katie Smith to fill the vacant position. FISCAL IMPACT: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Review and make a decision on PLDD's recommendation to appoint Katie Smith to fill the vacancy on the PLDD governing body for the remainder of the unexpired term until the next special district general election.
