Undie Road Emergency Relocation Project 180-2007-0
Statement of Issue: Execution of Change Order #2 for the above referenced project.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: This change order contains three (3) elements which
are 1) cost to remove and haul unsuitable soils off site from STA 53+00 to 55+00; 2) credit for
use of crushed surfacing base course from pit Q-85; and 3) cost to perform overtime work as
ordered by the Engineer on 10/29 to take advantage of one of the few good weather days
available in October that was twice as wet as average (22.5 inches of rain).
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: Estimated $17,194. Project is on budget and is
approximately 90% complete.
Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the Board approve Change Order #2 by
signing all three attached forms and returning to Public Works for further processing.

You are ordered to perform the following described work upon receipt of an approved copy of this change order:
1) Remove unsuitable silt/clay soils from excavation at approximate STA 53+00 to STA 55+00 and haul to
County -provided waste site in Forks, WA. Provide equipment at waste site to spread material. Costs for haul
and spread to be paid at hourly rates per attachments. Cost: $32,004.29 Additional Time: 2 Contract Days
2) Contractor has proposed and County has agreed that Crushed Surfacing Base Course may be used in lieu of
Crushed Surfacing Top Course (Bid Item #17). Furthermore, Contractor has propsed and County has agreed to
a source (Pit Q-85) and a credit of $5.00 per ton for this material. Finally, a conversion factor of 1.48 tons per
cubic yard (truck measure) shall be used. Estimated Credit: $16,000 Additional Time: 0 Days
3) Due to poor weather conditions in October, Engineer requested and Contractor ageed to perform Saturday
work on 10/29. County to pay overtime differential. Cost: $1,190.40
One (1) working day charged.
All work materials and measurement to be in accordance with the provisions of the standard specifications and
special provisions for the type of construction involved.
