Subject: Request for Solid Waste Advisory Committee Appointment
Statement of Issue:
Public Works has received the attached letter of interest by resident Carol Cummins
regarding the vacant Commissioner District Number 1 representative Member position
on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's and Con's:
The District 1 representative Member position was vacated with the Board's
acceptance of Henry Fly's resignation on September 12, 2016. Ms. Cummins has
attended a SWAC Meeting, met SWAC Members, and was notified of the District 1
vacancy. As a resident of District 1 interested in solid waste issues, an experienced
member of other community committees, and after meeting with the Solid Waste
Manager regarding roles and responsibilities of the SWAC, she has produced a letter of
interest in a 2 -year appointment to the SWAC.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
The local SWAC is mandated by RCW 70.95.165(3). Costs associated with SWAC
activities are identified in the 2016 and preliminary 2017 Solid Waste Budgets.
