OPEN HOUSE – Jefferson County Comprehensive Plan Update The first half of the meeting consisted of an Open House to encourage public review, questions and answers, and general feedback on required and optional Comprehensive Plan Elements. Visiting citizens viewed Element posters, filled out surveys, and conversed with staff and members of the Planning Commission. The Open House was well attended and provided valuable feedback. Approval of Agenda: Agenda approved by acclimation. Approval of Minutes: October 19, 2016 Meeting Minutes approved. DISCUSSION 6:45 - Peterson Recaps that the purpose of this meeting is to hear public feedback and comment on Jefferson County’s Comprehensive Plan. Gives brief explanation of what the Comprehensive Plan is and the purpose of the periodic update. Specifically acknowledges Brinnon’s participation in the past with county comprehensive planning and the creation of the Brinnon Subarea Plan. Explains the periodic update process including how planning data provided by the State Department of Financial Management, helps determine how much and where Jefferson County’s projected population growth will be in the next 20 years. The projection also helps with understanding the demographics and how Jefferson County can better evaluate which amenities will be needed in the future. 15:45 - Peterson Q & A period opened to the public. 21:05 – Koan Explains how the public outreach period is a great opportunity for the public to voice opinions on what the needs are of the county for the next 20 years. OBSERVER COMMENT 23:40 – 1:34:45 The Chair opens the floor to the public for comment on the Comprehensive Plan update.

STAFF UPDATES 1:41:00 - Charnas Announces Jefferson County’s search for a new Planning Manager has come to a close. David Greetham has accepted the County’s offer for the position and his start date will be December 1st. COMMISSIONER ANNOUNCEMENTS None FOLLOW-UP ITEMS 1:43:00 The 2017 meeting schedule will continue with regular Planning Commission meetings to be scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. If meetings are not needed they will be officially canceled. 1:45:10 – Koan Brief summary of the recent “Meeting in a Binder” held in Cape George where approximately 40 residents were in attendance.
