HomeMy WebLinkAboutTeamsters Local Union No. 589 Extention - 121216T r COLLECTIVE BARGAINING C� I� �� �� EXTENSION AGREEMENT JEFFERSON COUNTY WA (Employer) AND TEAMSTERS LOCAL 589 (Union) FOR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT BARGAINING UNIT A. The Employer and Union are parties to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and; B. The CBA is expiring on December 31, 2016, and; C. The Parties agree in the process of bargaining a successor agreement, and; D. The Parties wish to stabilize the relations during the bargaining process, and; E. The Parties wish to memorialize their agreement regarding retroactive application of a successor CBA; NOW THEREFOR IT IS AGREED 1. The expiring CBA is extended in all of its provisions without modification on a month by month basis through and including the last day of the Extension Period as herein described 2. The Extension Period shall commence as of the CBA expiration date and shall continue until this Extension Agreement is properly terminated through the Notice and Termination procedures of this Agreement 3. Notice and Termination shall only occur when: a. One Party shall deliver a notice of termination to theXother party giving 60 days' notice of the intent to terminate this Extension Agreement, and; b. Notice shall be delivered by fax or email stating the day on which this Extension Agreement will terminate, and; c. The terminating Party makes themselves available for bargaining the impact of the termination of this Extension Agreement. 4. Automatic termination of this Extension Agreement shall occur upon the adoption by the Parties of a success or CBA. 5. The Parties agree that notwithstanding policy or law to the contrary it is the agreement of the Parties that retroactive wage adjustments shall be the subject of good faith bargaining. Ongoing negotiations continue with the Teamsters Union representative and shop stewards. This agreement will stabilize relations during the bargaining process and will terminate automatically upon the adoption by the parties of a successor CBA. FISCAL IMPACT: This agreement extends the status quo of the existing CBA and memorializes the agreement of the parties that retroactive wage adjustments shall be the subject of good faith bargaining. RECOMMENDATION: Approve and sign the Agreement extending the CBA which expires December 31, 2016.
