Fish and wildlife habitat are natural systems that in the most cost effective way, protect our water supplies, protect against natural disasters and preserve natural resources we depend upon. They also help drive tourism economies and natural resource dependent economies, which if managed appropriately, can exist together. Furthermore, these habitats make up the viewscapes we're known for in Jefferson County. Protect ... Jefferson County from the adverse impacts of development ..." I'd love to see a discussion on explicitly protecting working forest and agricultural lands from conversion. We don't need to look any farther than Sequim to see what can happen when productive farmland is lost to helter-skelter development, or Skagit County for a concerted effort to protect prime ag lands. We own and manage working timberlands in the County and strongly support efforts to prevent their conversion to residential or hobby farm development.
