12.) Protect and enhance fish and wildlife habitat throughout Jefferson County.
Fish and wildlife habitat are natural systems that in the most cost effective way, protect
our water supplies, protect against natural disasters and preserve natural resources we
depend upon. They also help drive tourism economies and natural resource dependent
economies, which if managed appropriately, can exist together. Furthermore, these
habitats make up the viewscapes we're known for in Jefferson County. If we protect fish
and wildlife habitat, we reap rewards on many fronts in the most cost effective way
possible.

" ... Protect ... Jefferson County from the adverse impacts of development ..." I'd love to
see a discussion on explicitly protecting working forest and agricultural lands from
conversion. We don't need to look any farther than Sequim to see what can happen
when productive farmland is lost to helter-skelter development, or Skagit County for a
concerted effort to protect prime ag lands. We own and manage working timberlands in
the County and strongly support efforts to prevent their conversion to residential or
hobby farm development.
Thank you to County staff for hosting this forum!
