2017 Surplus Equipment Auction Calendar
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Assessor, Auditor, Public Health, Central Services, and Sheriff's
Office have surplus equipment to be disposed. RCW 36.34.020, 36.34.030, 36.34.340,
36.34.050 & 36.34.090 outline statutory requirements to dispose of property. The list of
equipment is included with the draft Resolution.
ANALYSIS: Large equipment to be sold auction by James G Murphy, Inc., of Kenmore,
Washington at the Jefferson County Shop located at 371 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock,
Washington on May 12, 2017.
FISCAL IMPACT: Minimal revenue is expected. Proceeds from items will be returned to
individual departments separately (after Treasurer and Auditor publication expenses and
the auctioneer's percentage are deducted).
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution for Notice of Intention to Sell and
approve the Notice of Public Hearing.

IN THE MATTER OF A NOTICE OF
INTENTION TO SELL SURPLUS
COUNTY PROPERTY I PN&QZd9ZZQJ-JmftTP
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County Commissioners of Jefferson County to
dispose of surplus property; and
WHEREAS, the various departments have indicated a need to dispose of those
items on the list of surplus equipment attached to this Resolution, for sale at a public
auction to be held on May 12, 2017 at 10:00 am and to be sold by James G. Murphy, Inc.,
of Kenmore, Washington at the County Shop located at 371 Chimacurn Road, Port
Hadlock, WA. The lot will be open for preview from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, and
WHEREAS, RCW 36.34.020 requires that an intention to declare surplus be
published with a Notice of Public Hearing regarding the disposal of any County property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Commissioners of Jefferson
County that they make a Notice of Public Hearing shall be published as required by RCW
36.34.020 particularly describing the property to be sold and designating the place where,
the day and hour, when the hearing will be held for such consideration.

Notice of Sale — Auditor must publish notice once a week for 2 successive weeks. Notice and date of first publication
at least 10 days prior to sale date with list of items for sale with time and date. (RCW 36.34.090)

Each department delivers all surplus items to the Hadlock Shop. (May 3, 2017)
Check with ER&R Manager to be sure they have all the titles to various vehicles listed on sale. Give to the auction
company no later than one week before the day of the sale. The Treasurer signs titles. The auction company will
take care of weight slips and anything else needed for vehicles. (May 5, 2017)
Auction service charges and pays the sales tax on items to the state.
