MINUTES
Week of September 5, 2000
Chairman Richard Wojt called the meeting to order at the appointed time. Commissioner
Dan Harpole was present. Commissioner Glen Huntingford was out of town at a State Committee meeting.
APPROVAL OFMINUTES: Commissioner Harpole moved to approve the minutes of
August 28, 2000 as presented. Chairman Wojt seconded the motion which carded.
COUNTY ADMINISTRA TORS BRIEFING SESSION: County Administrator Charles
Saddler reported on the following:
· He will find out the status of the UGA newsletter from the Community Development staff.
· Commissioner Harpole asked that he contact Rich Childers, a former Tribal representative on the
Marine Resource Committee (MRC), to see if he is interested in serving on this Board as a
representative of District 1. There are vacancies in District 1 and District 2.
· A work plan was developed at the Parks & Recreation Summit. The Port Manager, the City
Administrator and the County Administrator will be working together on this plan.
· PTTV has been asked to televise portions of the Preliminary Budget Roundtables.
· A meeting with OlyCap will be scheduled to discuss the Brinnon (Bayshore) Motel.
· Commissioner Huntingford is attending a meeting in Olympia, but has questions about Item 4 on
the Consent Agenda. Chairman Wojt and Commissioner Harpole agreed to pull Item 4 from the
Consent Agenda.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: One person was present and asked for information on the
status of the Chimacum Creek/Irondale Park. (Commissioner Wojt advised that the County has applied for
two grants to help fund acquisition of this property. The project was ranked 7th for one grant, and the
County hasn't heard anything on other grant.)

moved to delete Item 4 and to approve and adopt the balance of the items on the Consent Agenda as
presented. Chairman Wojt seconded the motion which carried.

Report on Utilization of Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Deputy County
Administrator David Goldsmith reported that 17% of County workforce has utilized the EAP services over
the last year. The EAP programs were used as follows: One quarter of the uses were for work related
issues; a quarter were about substance abuse issues; and a quarter were parenting issues, and the final
quarter was use of "other" programs such as financial issues.

The Board met in Executive Session from 10:05 tol 1:00 a.m. with the Deputy County
Administrator regarding personnel and then interviewed Lauren Mark who expressed interest in serving on
the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee from 2:00 to 2:15 p.m..
