Agenda Request
To: Board of Commissioners
Philip Morley, County Administrator
From: Monte Reinders, P.E., Public Works Director/County Engineer
Agenda Date: March 27, 2017
Subject: Adding Undi Road Bypass to the Official County Road Log
Statement of Issue: This action will add the new Undi Road Bypass to the official County
road log.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's: Landslide activity has severely damaged the Undie
Road at MP 1.1 creating unsafe conditions for the traveling public and road maintenance
workers. A bypass around the landslide has been constructed and is now known as the Undi
Road Bypass. The damaged section of Undie Road has been permanently closed by resolution
of the Board. The Undi Road Bypass should be added to the Jefferson County road log to
officially document that it is a County Road as was the intent when the Board ordered its
construction. In addition, the road meets the criteria for designation and signing as a
primitive road as was also the intent during its design and construction. The attached
resolution adds the Undi Road Bypass to the road log as County Road #151009 and identifies it
as a primitive road.
The portion being added to the Jefferson County road log is 0.685 miles long and starts at the
county line (Milepost 1.500) and ends where it reconnects to Undie Road (Milepost 2.185).
The bypass route also includes a portion in Clallam County (Milepost 0.00 to 1.50). This
portion is not being added to the Jefferson County road log at this time as Clallam County has
indicated an intent to add this to their road log.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: The Undi Road Bypass will be maintained at County
expense as a primitive road which was the intent when the Board directed that it be
constructed as the only viable alternative for resident access.
Recommendation: Please sign the attached resolution adding the Undi Road Bypass to the
official Jefferson County road log as County Road #151009.
