Subject: Recommendation of Award of Contract for;
Pavement Marking on Jefferson County Roads for Calendar Year 2017
Statement of Issue:
Public Works staff has completed checking the bids opened on Monday, February 27, 2017 for
the project referenced above, and finds it to be in the best interest of the County to award the
Contract to the low bidder, Affordable Asphalt Company of Tumwater, WA, at the amount
specified in their bid.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's:
Award of this Bid is consistent with the County's goals in that it provides for safety of the
motoring public. Signing the attached Recommendation for Award of Contract memo authorizes
the contract amount.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
Provisions for pavement marking services are included in the 2017 Road Operations budget. The
anticipated amount for this one (1) year Contract period is $191,755.50
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the Board award this Bid by signature of the Chair on the attached
memo where indicated, and the return of the memo to Public Works for further processing. A
prepared Contract will then be returned to the Board at a later date for final execution.

SUBJECT: Recommendation for Award of Contract for;

Public Works staff has completed checking the bids opened on February 27, 2017 for the above
named project, and have verified the low -bidder's qualifications.
Public Works staff finds it to be in County's best interest to award the Contract in accordance
with the Contract Documents and Specifications to the lowest responsive bidder named below:
L. J. Hilton, Inc.; D.B.A. Affordable Asphalt Co. of Tumwater, WA
For their Bid Amount of $191,755.50
The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners approves award of this bid to the above-named
contractor.
