Briefing Session JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of Commissioners FROM: Patty Charnas, DCD Director DCD Leadership Team DATE: April 10, 2017 RE: Department of Community Development (DCD) Update: Administration, Operations, Planning and Projects STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The DCD Leadership Team is comprised of the Director, Office Manager and Planning Manager. The DCD Leadership Team wishes to periodically brief the Board on administrative, operational and high-profile project issues that span across all disciplines managed in the department. This briefing is intended to be the first of several that will be requested over the year and will provide a broad overview and status of departmental activity related to: workforce planning, revenue and expenditures, customer relations, permit operations and planning. In addition to existing and topic -based briefings, these periodic quarterly briefings are intended to keep the Board and County Administrator apprised of organizational issues. ANALYSIS: This briefing provides an update and status report on DCD management and operations. Briefings are proposed to occur on a quarterly basis. Via these briefings, the DCD Leadership Team wishes to engage the County Commissioners in an informative manner that elicits dialogue and feedback on organizational and operational topics of DCD. Outcomes from this and subsequent DCD updates are intended to create a good working relationship and awareness of the department and of the DCD Leadership Team. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no measurable fiscal impact of the DCD update to the Board of County Commissioners outside of the commitment of time. RECOMMENDATION: DCD recommends that the Board receive a briefing and provide feedback and direction if necessary.
